Forest Hill – Real Estate

On land once owned by Alfred Sutro, think of Forest Hill as a prosperously elegant neighborhood that is also a distinct community. Characterized by extravagantly landscaped winding lanes replete with its’ own recently renovated Maybeck Clubhouse, a garden club, a women’s social organization, and the annual Forest Hill Musical Days Festival. Maintaing the lavishly planted medians and governing remodeling and new construction, the Forest Hill Homeowner’s association requires residents to take member with annual dues.

Enjoy the mix of architectural styles here, from recent modern remodels to authentic Meditaranean, Gothic, Tudor and brick mansions, many that sit above and below one of the cities only multi-block Elm tree lined street and lit by antique reproduction street lamps adding to the charm.  It’s easy to call these estates exclusive. The 650 stately homes in this well kempt neighborhood are located above West Portal, Forest Hills Extension and alongside the Inner Sunset near the middle of San Francisco.

Many homes have been passed down through the generations and house some of the oldest families in the city.  Pricing here is at a premium, yet slightly under some of the higher end, comparably elegant homes in the Northern neighborhoods, making it affordable for the affluent homebuyer seeking a large family home. School of the Arts high school  is located here, and shopping is close by on West Portal Avenue and Taraval Streets. The Muni Metro Forest Hill Station is at the bottom of Laguna Honda and Freeways are accessed on Junipera Serra, with a short ride through West Portal.
