Big Bus Now Offers Two Iconic Area Attractions

A Big Bus hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour is the perfect way to see San Francisco. From Fisherman’s Wharf to the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown to Haight Ashbury, Big Bus allows guests the flexibility to experience the best of the city with guided commentary and, for those hopping off, extended time and city landmarks.

Big Bus now offers visitors special opportunities to see two iconic area attractions: Muir Woods and Alcatraz.

Muir Woods

Experience the wonder of one of California’s oldest redwood groves on the new Muir Woods Tour. Hop on to take a scenic drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and begin an adventure into Muir Woods National Forest. The Muir Woods Tour departs from the Big Bus Tours Visitor Center at 99 Jefferson St. in Fisherman’s Wharf, with two departures daily at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The 45-minute journey to Muir Woods takes guests across the Golden Gate Bridge, where they can enjoy stunning views of San Francisco Bay and capture the unique structural details of this remarkable bridge, renowned for its international orange color.

Upon arrival at Muir Woods, guests will receive an admission ticket and free range to explore the gentle walking trails for 90 minutes. Stroll through the tranquil forest to see California’s coastal redwoods, the tallest living things on earth. See redwoods that are more than 250 feet tall and more than 800 years old in one of the last remaining stands of old-growth coastal redwood forest, sustained by temperate marine fog.

The return journey includes a tour through the seaside town of Sausalito. Guests can hop off to experience this charming and popular hillside town, or stay on board to return across the bridge. Total tour time with a direct return to the Visitor Center is about three and a half hours. With limited parking on-site, traveling with Big Bus Tours to Muir Woods makes it an easy and stress-free experience to visit an area must-see.

Alcatraz

Combine a sightseeing tour of San Francisco with a visit to the world’s most famous prison, Alcatraz, on a one-day, hop-on, hop-off Big Bus Tour with an Alcatraz package. Also known as The Rock, the federal prison once established on Alcatraz Island is synonymous with notorious bank robbers and murderers like Al Capone, Machine Gun Kelly, and the Birdman of Alcatraz, Robert Stroud. Now managed by the National Park Service, guests can visit Alcatraz for themselves.

Each package ticket includes round-trip ferry travel from Pier 33 and admission to Alcatraz. Once guests arrive, personal audio guides are available to help explore the infamous facility. Learn about the lives of prisoners and guards alike, inspect the cells and take in magnificent views of the surrounding San Francisco Bay.

Please note: Alcatraz Package bookings must be confirmed with alcatraz@bigbustours.com. To request a preferred tour date, contact Big Bus at least five days in advance of your visit. Same-day bookings are not available. For more information, and to book an Alcatraz Package, click here.

Can’t decide between the two attraction options? Do both with a combined Muir Woods & Alcatraz Package to take full advantage of Big Bus Tours’ special access. Both Muir Woods and Alcatraz are well-known as high-demand attractions. Big Bus makes it easy to not miss out on these must-see stops.
